There’s a children’s song that says, “The church is not a building. The church is not a steeple. The church is not a resting place. The church is the people.”
The church is the people and it takes a community of active and willing volunteers to make the work of this place possible. If you’re looking for a way to become more involved at Decorah UCC and provide ongoing support to this community of faith, we would be thankful for your help.
Help on Sunday Mornings
Volunteers from the congregation are vital to Sunday worship. Folks are invited to usher, greet visitors, serve or set up for communion, read Scripture, host coffee hour, sing in the choir, ring bells, and provide flowers for Sunday morning services.
Contact our Deacons to sign up or indicate your interest.
Create Worship Spaces
Artistic and creative volunteers from the congregation help transform our worship space into space that both teaches and inspires awe and wonder. Creating banners and altarscapes are only the beginning of the possibilities for this team.
Contact Pastor Laura to help in this new ministry.
Teach Adults and Children
Our education and spiritual formation team is always looking for caring adults to work with our children, youth, and adults alike. You can sign up to teach. You can be a lead teacher or a helper. You can work with our youth group. We also welcome ideas and leaders for Sunday morning and weekday adult classes.
Contact our Education and Spiritual Formation Team to sign up or share new ideas for ministry.
Tend Our Property
Work days happen throughout the year, and we hope you’ll watch the announcements for these special opportunities to care for our building and grounds so that we continue to foster hospitable, welcoming spaces for worship, fellowship, and community events.
